Landis+Gyr Releases Gridstream MDUS 1.0 to Enable End-to-End Business Processes with SAP
Integrating smart metering technology from Landis+Gyr and enterprise services from SAP reduces costs, improves process efficiency and brings utilities one step closer to an interoperable smart grid.
Zug, Switzerland - Landis+Gyr introduces version 1.0 of its Gridstream MDUS smart metering software. This software provides an end-to-end smart metering solution integrated with the SAP for Utilities business system. With this development, utilities now can handle their metering data management activities from a single system.
The latest release comes after Landis+Gyr and SAP last year announced their cooperation on the development of a state-of-the-art meter data unification and synchronisation (MDUS) system that integrates Landis+Gyr's smart metering system with SAP's comprehensive business software for utilities.
Gridstream MDUS from Landis+Gyr performs two-way communication with SAP for Utilities®. It enables end-to-end business processes by providing two-way access to smart metering data directly from the SAP ERP. Up-to-date consumption data is available in the business system and on-demand readings and connect/disconnect services can be managed without logging in to a separate smart metering system.
Gridstream MDUS covers functions and interfaces required for meter validation and estimation, network management, billing, and customer relationship management. It provides one central short- and long-term data repository for all energy measurement data. Gridstream MDUS is interoperable with third-party Head End Systems that use an IEC standard-based interface.
Gridstream MDUS 1.0 includes the following interface functionalities via SAP AMI 1.0 webservices:
o Meter Reading at scheduled times, or on demand
o Master Data Synchronization at meter installation and register changes
o Basic Interval Data services for transferring metering time series information
o Configuration Data
o Disconnection / Re-connection of meter's status by operating the meter connect-relay
The range of services is continuously evolving, as Landis+Gyr and SAP share a joint development path in R&D to help utilities manage energy better.
Gridstream MDUS is based on open software architecture. This enables easy integration to the utility's smart grid applications and ensures a future proof solution. The software can be expanded to support any Head End System following industry standards, and the utility can build also the meter park on several suppliers' products.
