OMNIKEY Smart Card Reader Technology Now Available as Reader Boards
Contact and contactless reader boards provide easy integration for hardware manufacturers
Walluf, Germany - November 07, 2006- OMNIKEY, one of the world's leading manufacturers of innovative smart card readers, now offers the advanced technology of its contact and contactless PC-connected smart card readers as reader boards.
These PC/SC compliant boards are the inner part of OMNIKEY's state-of-the-art housed readers, including the connector cable but without the housing. Thus, the boards comply with all the relevant industry standards of the corresponding housed readers.
The PC-connected reader boards of the CardMan® 5321 and 5121 are available for embedding 13.56 MHz contactless smart card reader technology, whereas the CardMan® 5125 reader board provides 125 kHz functionality for HID Prox compatible solutions.
For contact-based readers, OMNIKEY offers the CardMan® 3121 and 3921 reader boards with USB interface and the CardMan® 3111 reader board with serial interface.
OEM manufacturers can use these boards to quickly and easily integrate smart card reader functionality in products such as computers, keyboards, printers, thin clients and many more.
