Kee SafetyŽ Introduces New KeeŽ Walk System to Provide a Safe, Level Walkway Across Roof Surfaces
Kee Safety, Inc., Buffalo, New York introduces its new KeeŽ Walk, a slip-resistant walkway for workers accessing a roof during construction or maintenance (compliant to OSHA 1910.22). Contrasting with the roof's surface, it provides a clear demarcation route which protects the roof from unnecessary damage and uniformly distributes the pedestrian load across its surface. Easy to install with pre-assembled standard lengths supplied from stock, Kee Walk is designed for modern roofs with composite, trapezoidal metal profile, and standing seam metal roofs. The flexible, modular system can be adjusted on-site and accommodates flat, barrel or sloping roofs, with steps and a traverse option allowing access to be created for virtually any roof configuration from 0 to 35 degrees, the company states.
Kee Walk systems are assembled using lightweight aluminum bearer bars and high-grade nylon treads that feature a raised, rough surface for enhanced slip resistance in adverse weather conditions with open treads for fast drainage of water. The treads are designed to meet and exceed the EN 516 standard for Prefabricated Accessories for Roofing. Both the bearer bars and treads are recyclable, according to Kee Safety.
Pre-assembled step configurations in 3-1/2-ft., 4-1/2-ft., 5-ft. and 10-ft. lengths require only slight on-site positioning and alignment, Kee Safety states. The standard steps are joined together with a 4-inch straight connector which attaches to the bearing bars. No bespoke parts are used, and fixings do not damage the roof surface. The walkways/traverse configurations and free-standing modules are available in 5-ft. and 10-ft. lengths. The new Kee Walk system needs only a minimal number of brackets to install a complete system.
Kee Walk is part the Kee Safety line of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) that includes the new KeeLineŽ horizontal lifeline system for rooftop safety, KeeŽ Anchor deadweight fall protection devices, plus harnesses, lanyards, safety helmets, knee pads, work boots, ear plugs, and goggles.
