Ekahau Introduces Wi-Fi Spectrum Analysis Tool for Site Survey Solution

With New Analyzer, Users Can Easily Discover Previously Undetected Wi-Fi Interference Issues

RESTON, Virginia, May 14 / / - Ekahau Inc., a leading provider of Wi-Fi-based Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), today announced that it will be adding Wi-Fi (802.11 WLAN) spectrum analysis capabilities to the Ekahau Site Survey solution. The spectrum analyzer allows users to detect and visualize interference issues that cannot be detected with standard Wi-Fi adapters, such as wireless video cameras, cordless phones, radar, Bluetooth devices and microwave ovens that can impact network throughput and performance.

The new spectrum analysis tool is optimized for simultaneous operation with Ekahau Site Survey. The spectrum analysis functionality can be initiated from Ekahau Site Survey user interface when using Ekahau Site Survey version 4.5.9 or later.

The dual-band spectrum analyzer is able to analyze the 2.4 GHz frequency band, as well as the 5 GHz frequency space, which is becoming increasingly important with the new 802.11n WLAN standard.

"Finding and eliminating interference has become a challenge for all Wi-Fi networks users, such as those in healthcare, manufacturing and logistics. The new 802.11n technology increases throughput and reliability significantly, but applications like voice and video are still vulnerable to non-Wi-Fi interference," said Jussi Kiviniemi, senior product manager at Ekahau. "The addition of our spectrum analysis tool ensures that Ekahau customers can continue designing and maintaining the world's best performing Wi-Fi networks for data, voice, sensors and real-time location applications."

"Spectrum analysis is essential in deploying and troubleshooting corporate Wi-Fi networks," said Devin Akin, CTO of the CWNP Program, the industry's de facto standard for Wi-Fi training and certification. "As an Ekahau partner, CWNP and its global training channel are delighted to see that Ekahau is providing an easy-to-use and cost-effective spectrum analysis solution."

The spectrum analyzer will be sold as an optional feature for purchasers of Ekahau Site Survey Pro or Standard editions. Current Ekahau Site Survey users can purchase the analysis tool as an upgrade to their existing software. The solution is available directly from Ekahau or through certified Ekahau distributors and resellers.

Introductory pricing for the site survey and spectrum analysis bundle is available until June 30, 2009. For more information, please visit to http://www.ekahau.com/ess.
