Kurt Introduces New 8-Inch VersatileLock® Vises -Available in Manual, Reverse and Hydraulic Versions

Press release date: August 28, 2014

Minneapolis, Minnesota – Kurt introduces new 8-inch VersatileLock® Vises available in manual, reverse and hydraulic versions. These unique vises feature a one-piece body and stationary jaw design integrated with Kurt’s time-proven Anglock® feature.  Together, this pull-type jaw clamping design reduces jaw stationary deflection by at least 80 percent providing highly precise clamping repeatability of 0.0005 inch.

Previously available in 4 and 6 inch sizes, the VersatileLock family of vises have become the industry’s ultimate single station vise because of their many features. All three sizes, 4, 6 and now 8 inch versions are Ideal for precision part clamping on machining centers, and mills. All Kurt VersatileLock vises feature durable 80,000 PSI ductile iron bodies with precision machined steel components. Their robust design provides rugged strength, extra rigidity and long-term accuracy while absorbing machining vibration. The one-piece vise body and stationary jaw provide greater strength while reducing weight.

The new 8-inch VersatileLock features a full 10-inch jaw opening. The manual vise version can be mounted upright or on either side. It features matched stationary jaw to keyway including the body height ±0.001 inch.

The new 8-inch VersatileLock vise is available in reverse configuration for the added benefit of easier part programming in “Y” axis positive direction. This feature also reduces the “reach-over” distance making part loading safer and easier for the operator.

The Hydraulic 8-inch VersatileLock model has a ¼ inch vise stroke.

The entire family of Kurt VersatileLock vises features world famous AngLock and pull type clamping design that prevents parts from lifting upward under heavy clamping loads. A hardened spherical segment mechanism produces “all directional” alignment of the jaw components and vise body so clamped parts remain stationary for accurate machining operations at all times.

Another industry first, VersatileLock vises and all Kurt vise products are backed by Kurt’s lifetime “Iron Clad™” warranty for workmanship and materials.
