August 19, 2008 - ESD overvoltage suppression devices of SP3000 Series use steering diode architecture with integral zener diode, fabricated with silicon avalanche technology, that protects each I/O line by routing surge currents to ground. Effective against ESD surges up to ±12 kV with response time of less than 1 ns, devices deliver protection with minimal distortion at data rates up to 1 GHz or higher. They handle surge currents up to 4.5 A, protecting up to 4 lines/pins operating at 6 Vdc or lower.

Littelfuse Introduces Ultra-low Capacitance SP3000 Series Silicon Protection Arrays for High Speed Data Lines and Interfaces

DES PLAINES, IL - August 7, 2008 - Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS:LFUS), today announced its SP3000 Series of electrostatic discharge (ESD) overvoltage suppression devices for data lines and interface circuits in a broad range of equipment. Applications include PCs and PC peripherals, hand-held devices, adapter cards, and data communications equipment - including USB2.0 and IEEE1394 devices.

This new series uses a steering diode architecture with an integral zener diode, fabricated with silicon avalanche technology, that protects each I/O line by routing potentially destructive surge currents to ground. The steering diodes reduce the overall off-state capacitance to an ultra-low level, which is also more stable with variations in signal voltage and frequency than typical ESD protection devices. The result is high-level protection with minimal distortion at data rates up to 1GHz or higher.

The SP3000 Series provides protection against ESD surges up to ±12kV when tested in accordance with IEC61000-4-2. Each device has a response time of less than 1ns and can handle surge currents up to 4.5A (8x20µs waveform), protecting up to four-lines (or pins) operating at 6VDC or lower. Leakage current is less than 0.5µA. They come in surface mount SC70, MSOP10, SOT553 and SOT563 packages to meet OEM demands for high component density and efficient tape-and-reel installation. All are RoHS (Restrictions On Hazardous Substances) compliant (lead-free/Green), and available in reel pack quantities of 3000 or 5000, depending on specific part number.

Availability. OEM samples of the SP3000 Series are available from stock. Tape and reel orders typically ship 8-10 weeks ARO.
