Silicon Carbide Power Schottky Diode is offered in 60 A version.

Press Release Summary:

Model SDP60S120D, 1,200 V power Schottky diode delivers continuous forward current measured at Tc of 145°C. Operating in temperatures from -55 to +175°C, diode has Qc of 260 nC as well as positive temperature coefficient which helps to parallel multiple units and facilitates temperature-independent switching. Product exhibits zero reverse recovery current and zero forward recovery voltage. It is suited for solar inverters, motor drives, power factor correction, UPS, AMPS, and induction heating.

SemiSouth Launches World's Highest Current (60A) SiC Power Schottky Diode

SDP60S120D can replace three parallel parts, saving power, space and cost

SemiSouth Laboratories, Inc., the leading manufacturer of silicon carbide (SiC) transistor technology for high-power, high-efficiency, harsh-environment power management and conversion applications, today launched its SDP60S120D 1200V, 60A SiC power Schottky diode, which delivers the highest continuous forward current (IF) of any SiC diode in the world (measured @ Tc of 145degC).

Delivering 20% more current than its nearest competitor the TO-247-packaged SDP60S120D has a Qc of only 260nC and an operating temperature range -55 to 175degC. Featuring a positive temperature coefficient for ease of paralleling and temperature-independent switching behaviour, the new Schottky diode also exhibits a zero reverse recovery current and zero forward recovery voltage.

Comments Dieter Liesabeths, Director of Sales: "Our new 60A SDP60S120D enables uses to replace three paralleled 20A parts reducing power dissipation by over 12% as well as saving space and cost."

Applications include solar inverters, motor drives, power factor correction, UPS, AMPS and induction heating. SemiSouth products are available through a global distribution network of several high-quality reps/distributors, listed at (http://semisouth.com/contact/salesreps-distributors.html).

About SemiSouth Laboratories, Inc.

SemiSouth, a privately owned corporation with its main offices and foundry in Starkville, Mississippi, (USA), focuses on silicon carbide (SiC) power devices and electronics, targeting applications such as: solar inverters; power conversion in computing and network power supplies; variable-speed drives for industrial motors and hybrid electric vehicles; and products used in high-power, harsh-environment military and aerospace environments. The company was formed in 2000, has sold products globally through direct sales or distributors since 2005, and received a major growth investment from Power Integrations (NASDAQ: POWI) in 2010. It introduced the world's first commercial, cost-effective normally-off SiC JFETs in 2008, which have enabled world-record energy efficiencies for its customer's products.
