Signal Conditioner Provides Configurable Input/Output Modes for Universal Signals
BURGAW, N.C. (September 4, 2002) - Expanding its DIN rail mountable electronic line, Wieland Electric Inc. has developed a Universal Signal Conditioner with galvanic isolation for the re-transmission and measurement of isolated analog output signals. The module accepts universal inputs including: voltage, current, thermocouple, PT100 and potentiometer within one configurable module. The sensor is powered by a two-wire technique that stabilizes up to 2OmA with short circuit protection. In addition, the Universal Signal Conditioner provides numerous added features for convenient installation and maintenance.
" Wieland has designed a universal converter module that accepts most standard input signals, maximizes signal input and provides output protection," said Wieland Product Manager, Marc Immordino. "The full benefit comes with the added features, such as front panel indicators, dip-switch mode selections and PC programming options."
The Wieland Universal Signal Conditioner provides three measurement samples per second for all input types. It also provides 60V of continuous protection for all inputs (except current) and protects outputs and power supplies against over-voltages to 400W/ms. Three-point insulation is provided up to 1500VAC. The module also furnishes zero and span adjustments for the inputs and outputs.
"The ability to customize the module's capabilities on site with the flip of a switch makes the installer's job both fast and convenient, Immordino explained. "In the case of replacement, a technician can simple set the input/output parameters and quickly bring the system back online."
