New Low Weight Solution for Bearing Positioning

Triangle Manufacturing now provides set screw shaft collars that are used to ensure the shaft remains within its bearing. Shaft collars are a low-weight, multipurpose component, their uses include: limiting the shaft motion, positioning and spacing the bearing along the shaft and a mechanical full stop.

Shaft collars have a multitude of uses and are utilized traditionally in every industry, ranging from conveying assemblies to agriculture to industrial machinery. We even use them in our own shop and know a few people who use them as depth finders in their fishing excursions.

The easily installed collars are inexpensive in high volume and come in three standard sizes: 5/8", 3/4", and 1". They are also now available with customizable bores and plating options, making them even more versatile. While they may not be necessary in every application, they are essential for ensuring the prevention of linear motion (sliding) during shaft rotation, no matter the speed of the shaft.

Because of the stamp manufacturing process these steel collars are low-cost but long lasting. They are most often purchased in association with our self-aligning bearings or spherical bearings, with flange or pillow block mountings; and in our custom-designed solutions.

Randy Zeimet, Director of Production Development, said these shaft collars were designed to be functional and low cost. He continued, saying that they "just have to work, they have to do what they're designed to do, and the low price is just another benefit."
