ITT Extends Maximum Rated Current of Servomotor Connector to 40A

Servomotor connector features 50% less weight, half the length of comparable designs...

SANTA ANA, Calif. - December 26, 2007 - ITT Interconnect Solutions, a leading global
manufacturer and supplier of connectors, interconnects, and cable assemblies, has extended the current rating of its Cm5 Series servomotor connector. Capable of handling current to 40A in a low profile design, the connector is ideal for small servomotor applications requiring high current and where space is at a premium, including industrial motion control, robotics, factory automation and material handling.

"The Cm5 Series connectors feature one of the industry's highest rated currents for motor flanges of up to 150x150mm," said Keith Teichmann, director of marketing for ITT
Interconnect Solutions. "Designed as a replacement for two mated pairs of circular connectors, the Cm5 connectors weigh 50% less, occupy less space and are one-third the height as compared to conventional connector designs."

The Cm5 Series connectors feature crimp contacts, superior vibration resistance and are
completely shielded and sealed, including two sealed entries for power and signal cables. The connector meets IP67 approvals.

The Cm5 connectors utilize a 4-way (3 phase, 1 ground) power connector and signal connector providing several configuration options: 4-way sensor and brake, or 18- or 24-way signal. The power connectors feature a cable diameter of 19mm, maximum current of 40A at 80°C, contact resistance of less than 5mW, and a maximum voltage of 630VAC.

The signal connectors feature a cable diameter of 11mm, maximum current of 3A at 80°C,
contact resistance of less than 10mW, and a maximum voltage of 48VAC. Insulation resistance for the Cm5 connector is more than 5000M, with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.

Typical pricing for the Cm5 servomotor connectors ranges from $50.00 to $75.00 each in
quantities of 500 to 5000 pieces. Lead time is from 8 to 10 weeks.
