January 30, 2003 - Series ES2 has elastomer element that is press fit between coupling halves, providing zero backlash. Insert is offered in 3 shore values, allowing customer to choose damping effect. Integrated ball-detent torque-limiting element disengages drive within milliseconds in event of machine jam. It is available in versions that will free-wheel until manually reset, or that will automatically re-engage when transmitted torque falls back to acceptable level.

Servo Insert Couplings Up To 450 Nm

In an ongoing effort to meet the ever changing needs of motion control design engineers, R+W has developed the ES2 series of elastomer safety couplings.

R+W SERVOMAX torque limiting couplings have an elastomer element that is press fit between two precision machined coupling halves, giving it zero backlash and guaranteed concentricity. The elastomer insert is available in three different shore values allowing the customer to choose how great of a damping effect is required for the application. The elastomer insert also electrically insulates the two coupling halves.

An integrated ball-detent torque limiting element has also been added to disengage the drive and driven elements within milliseconds in the event of a machine jam or collision. The torque limiter is a backlash free design and is available in versions that will free-wheel until manually reset, or that will automatically reengage when the transmitted torque falls back to an acceptable level.

SERVOMAX safety couplings are mainly used in applications requiring precise motion, and vibration damping. ES2 couplings are also available at a lower cost than traditional bellows style torque limiting couplings.

Sizes are available for a wide variety of torque capacities and shaft sizes.
