Prodyne® Servo Collet Chuck Increases Accuracy of Programmable Barloaders

LEXINGTON, KY (October 28, 2005) - Lexair's Prodyne® Servo Collet Chuck is designed for lathes using programmable barloaders, where extremely accurate positioning of the barstock is required. The chuck utilizes a patented "Pull to Close" design that maintains position of the barstock against the barloader pusher as the chuck closes. This eliminates the need for a turret stop for positioning.

Other innovative features include a concentricity adjustment capability to further increase accuracy; convenient lubrication ports for ease of maintenance; fixed length collet design; a patented wedge design that provides high grip force regardless of RPM; a tapered nose shape that minimizes tool clearance issues; and a master collet that utilizes "S" style pads. There are four chuck models available - S16, S20, S22 and S26. Maximum bar capacity for the four chuck models is 1.625", 2.000", 2.225", 2.625" respectively.

The ProDyne Servo Collet Chuck is compatible with machines using an A-5, A-6, or A-8 spindle nose, and can be easily mounted using the machine's existing draw tube and actuator. The fixed length means no drawback as the collet closes. This design feature helps improve the efficiency of dual and sub spindle machines and barfeeder applications.
