PEER 1 Offers Image Backup and Restore Tools to Managed Hosting Customers

Fast, Reliable, Automated Backup and Recovery Protects Mission Critical Servers

VANCOUVER, Sept. 2 /-- PEER 1 Network Enterprises, Inc. (TSX:PIX), the global business hosting provider, today announced that it has launched image backup and bare metal recovery (BMR) services for its managed backup customers. The BMR functionality will be provided by software from Cristie and will be fully managed by PEER 1 along with standard managed backup plans.

"Through this service, clients can back up operating systems and applications so they can easily bounce back from just about anything the world can throw at their infrastructure," said Tim Varma, Director of Product Management at PEER 1. "Our powerful software regularly backs up their network's key systems, meaning there's much less to reinstall, rebuild, and reconfigure if disaster should strike. Clients will be up and running again much faster, saving valuable time and money. Image backups and restore tools are a must in today's business hosting environment."

The service replaces cumbersome and slow data protection strategies that use backup or replication to tape or disk. Both Windows(R) and Linux servers can be rapidly recovered to an identical state at a specific point in time, prior to any failure or corruption.

"We are delighted to be working with PEER 1 to provide full disaster recovery protection to its customers on both Windows and Linux platforms," said Ian Cameron, Sales Director at Cristie Software. "The PEER 1 solution includes backup software from both IBM and Cristie, providing the fastest possible bare metal restores."

The service consists of a set of server configuration files, and a bootable disaster recovery image held on CD. The boot image contains a customized operating system (Linux or Win PE). The software is designed to maximize speed, flexibility and simplicity of use, dramatically reducing the time to recover servers to just a fraction of the time needed with conventional restoration methods.
