Compute node options include BladeCenterâ„¢ for increased integration and xSeries® 335 servers for fast front-side bus and processors. Storage node options include xSeries 345 servers or xSeries 360 servers. System includes Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet cluster interconnects.

• Easy-to-order, robust factory-built configurations supported by IBM

All customers who purchase this offering will be provided with component level warranty support with IBM acting as a single point of contact.

Overview

The Cluster 1350 combines industry-leading hardware, clustering software, and services.

Hardware

• BladeCenter™ as a compute node option

- Increased integration (processing, networking, and storage)

- Investment protection for customers' infrastructure

- Simplified management

• Enhanced xSeries® 335 servers as a compute node option

- Faster front-side bus and processors

- For customers that require leading-edge price performance

• Enhanced xSeries 345 servers as a management or storage node option

- Faster performance for cluster management

- Faster I/O performance

• xSeries 360 server as a storage node option

- Up to four-way processing in a 3 U cabinet

- Optimized as a storage node for high-performance storage area networks (SANs)

• Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet cluster interconnects

• Optional high-performance interconnect (Myrinet 2000) for xSeries 335, xSeries 345, and xSeries 360 servers (not available on BladeCenter at this time)

• Optional IBM FAStT200 and FAStT700 storage

Software

• Cluster Systems Management (CSM) for Linux V1.3.1

Optional: General Parallel File System (GPFS) for Linux V1.3

These components are combined with a terminal server, monitor, cabling, power supplies, power distribution units, racks, and other components. When you obtain the prerequisite version of the Linux operating system and device drivers, the 1350 offers an integrated cluster system. It runs on Red Hat Linux 7.3 and 8.0, Advanced Server (AS) 2.1, SuSE 8.0 and 8.1, SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 7 and 8.

IBM offers optional fee-based services to install all supported Linux distributions, required device drivers, and CSM onto the Cluster 1350. Additionally, IBM offers optional Support Line for Linux Clusters for an enhanced level of integration and maintenance support.

The Cluster 1350 offering scales up to 512 managed servers and higher scaling is available by special bid.
