Server (1 RU) connects control panels, router control systems.

Press Release Summary:

RCP Panel Server allows existing serial control panels to work with network-based PERC3000 router control system and PESA network panels. Most PESA router remote control panels communicate with system controller using PESA Remote Control Panel (RCP) bus. With up to 8 serial data ports, server can allow up to 32 individual remote control panels, connected via RS-485, to communicate directly with PERC3000 system. This allows for modular upgrades throughout facility.

Original Press Release:

New PESA RCP Panel Server Connects Serial Control Panels to Network-Based Router Control Systems

Huntsville, Alabama – PESA, a leading U.S.-based designer and manufacturer of professional audio and video connectivity, today announced its new RCP Panel Server, a 1 RU peripheral that allows existing serial control panels to work with PESA’s network-based PERC3000 router control system and PESA’s line of recently announced network panels. The RCP Panel Server will be demonstrated at the 2014 NAB Show (Booth SL4619), which runs April 7-10 in Las Vegas,Nev.

Most PESA router remote control panels, including virtually all models currently installed with Cheetah digital routing systems, communicate with the system controller using the PESA Remote Control Panel (RCP) bus, a non-Ethernet proprietary bus protocol. With up to eight serial data ports, the RCP Panel Server can allow up to 32 individual remote control panels, connected via RS-485, to communicate directly with the PERC3000 system. As a result, the RCP Panel Server allows for modular upgrades throughout a facility, as opposed to a complete replacement of established control panels built around serial protocols.

“Facilities and OB trucks want to modernize and take advantage of our network-based PERC3000 control system, as well as our Smart32 and Touch72LCD control panels, but they don’t want to replace their entire control panel infrastructure,” explained Chuck Tillett, PESA president and COO. “The RCP Panel Server is an ideal solution because it enables your existing serial panels to communicate and integrate with the networked-based technology.”

The RCP Panel Server has a list price of $1,995 and is available now.
