Original Press Release:

New Industry-Standard Separation System for Cleaning and Recycling Metalworking Coolants and Wash Liquids

Alfa Laval is launching AlfaPure Z3, a complete new separation system specially designed for cleaning and recycling metalworking coolants and wash liquids. By efficient
removal of oil, grease and solid particles, the AlfaPure Z3 extends the life of water-based service fluids, cuts production costs and increases productivity. The system has the potential to pay for itself in less than one year.

AlfaPure Z3 is a complete centrifugal separation system in a compact mobile module that occupies less than 18 ft² of floor space and can handle tank volumes up to 80,000 gallons. Installed in bypass flow, it provides continuous, efficient removal of tramp oil, grease and particles from metalworking coolants and wash liquids.

With automatic operation, the system requires no supervision. The PLC-based control system is operated from a touch screen that provides a clear overview of the system and allows simple touch control of all functions.

AlfaPure Z3's continuous cleaning extends the life of the wash fluids by up to six times. With topping off, metalworking coolants can last as long as ten years. This offers savings
on fluid replacement and disposal and filter replacement and disposal.

Extends cutting tool lifetime and improves product quality

AlfaPure Z3 improves productivity by maintaining clean fluids that extend cutting tool lifetime and enable longer production runs without tool changes. Clean fluids improve machine tool cleanliness and reduce breakdowns resulting from particles clogging pumps and other equipment. Installation in a bypass system means more efficient utilization of machine tools and fewer shutdowns for tank cleaning. AlfaPure Z3 also improves final product quality by producing cleaner parts for assembly.

This new centrifugal separation system also improves both the plant's internal and external environment. Efficient cleaning and recycling of coolants and wash liquids reduces the impact of plant operation on the environment. Continuous cleaning inhibits the growth of microorganisms in service fluids, which, in turn, improves the working environment by eliminating odors and waste handling problems.

Service and maintenance of the AlfaPure Z3 are easy. Should more extensive maintenance be required, Alfa Laval offers Performance Agreements for scheduled maintenance as well as a worldwide network of parts and service in more than 100
countries.
