RBC Introduces Fiberglide® Self-Lubricating, High-Load Bearings

(Fairfield, CT - July 2002) The Transport Dynamics Division of RBC Bearings has introduced Fiberglide® self-lubricating bearings. Fiberglide bearings provide exceptional benefits to applications that require high-load capability and longer bearing life, such as material handling, agriculture, construction, trucking, and power transmission.

Fiberglide bearings can service much higher load capabilities, up to 40,000 psi for static loads and 20,000 psi for dynamic load applications. In addition, Fiberglide bearings are an extreme value, having over seven times the life of a DU® type bearing. Longer life is a byproduct of Fiberglide's heavy-duty construction.

Fiberglide bearings are built with a fabric liner, made of woven PTFE and polyester fibers, bonded to a steel backing. This construction has inherent damping qualities to rattling, vibrations, and noise, over metal bearings. Fiberglide bearings are capable of operating in temperatures ranging from -200 to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and are lead free, providing for a safer environment. Often, engineers are able to reduce total systems costs through the standardization of single, shorter Fiberglide bearing length in multiple positions on their product, rather than bearings of varying lengths to accommodate loading at each point. Sizes range from 3/16" in diameter and up, and can be built in aluminum or stainless steel versions for specific applications.

Transport Dynamics has over 40 years of development and application experience as the originator of this self-lubricating technology. RBC Bearings is supported by a global network of sales engineers, distributors, and authorized agents. RBC's products are used in a variety of applications throughout the construction, mining, packaging, aerospace, transportation, off-highway, agricultural, robotics and automation, material
handling, and semiconductor equipment industries. There are currently 12 RBC Bearings manufacturing locations throughout the US and Europe.
