August 9, 2005 - Featuring self-clinch, self-align design, high-temperature plain bearings are available in Graphite Bronze and Teflon® Bronze for commercial ovens in food operations and institutional kitchens. Bearings withstand shock, vibration, and side load and have ±5% static self-aligning capability that ensures smooth shaft rotation. Available in ¼, 5/16, 3/8, and ½ in. sizes, bearings can also be clinched into standard, 2-bolt hole steel flange.

High-Temperature Self-Clinching, Self-Aligning Bearings from Spyraflo

Bronze Bearings Perfect for Commercial Ovens in Many Food Operations

PEACHTREE CITY, GA, June 13, 2005 - Adding to its broad line of patented Self-Clinching and Self-Aligning bearings, Spyraflo is offering a line of high-temperature plain bearings that will be available to design engineers looking 'for improved performance and savings in applications subject to constant or intermittent high temperatures.

The basic Self-Clinch, Self-Align design will be available in Graphite Bronze and Teflon Bronze, with the latter offering a much higher load carrying capacity. Applications that would greatly benefit from both types of bearings include commercial ovens, particularly those in fast food establishments and institutional kitchens as in hospitals, schools, etc.

Also, OEM equipment manufacturers often use a powdered paint process that heats surfaces to temperatures in excess of 400QF. This often-called "baking" process requires bearings that can withstand these kinds of high temperatures. While standard Spyraflo bronze bearings can be used in temperatures reaching 380QF, the new line of high temperature bronze bearings have a max range of 540QF (282QC).

Advantages of Self-Clinching and Self-Aligning
All the benefits of self-clinching and self-aligning are now available to manufacturers looking for cost savings in their operations, material, assembly and machining of components for high-temperature applications. The self-clinching process incorporates a serrated flange and outer profile of the bearing, encouraging "cold flow" into the sheet metal as the bearing is pressed into the material. This simplifies the assembly process and results in a bearing that withstands shock, vibration and side load, and now, high operating temperatures as well. Additionally, the new bearing's +/- 5% static self-aligning capability offers wide design flexibility, ensuring smooth shaft rotation. The self-clinch, self-align design is available in sizes of ¼," 5/16," 3/8" and ½" (6, 8, 10 & 12mm).

They can also be clinched into a standard, two-bolt hole steel flange, forming a Flange-Mount with self-aligning capability, ready mounted and perfect for applications requiring subsequent replacement or adjustment.

For over 40 years Spyraflo has been recognized as a team of knowledgeable engineers helping customers adopt cost-effective bearing solutions. Our broad line of patented Self-Clinching and Self-Aligning bearings serve a variety of OEM markets and applications, from postage meters and ATMs to photocopiers and garden care machinery. These unique bearings have spurred a virtual revolution in how bearings are incorporated into the design and assembly of equipment.
