Pressure Compensation Seals: One Problem, Three Ingenious Hi-Tech Solutions
SOUTHFIELD, MI - September 11, 2006 - Schreiner Label Tech today announced the introduction of their ProTech pressure compensation seals (PCS). Schreiner's PCS labels are cost-effective, easy to apply and they maintain the manufacturer´s exact requirements for airflow. The self-adhesive PCS solution is ideal for electronic housings, ultrasonic welding or laser marked membrane labels, fulfilling the highest requirements of each.
What is so special about pressure compensation seals from Schreiner ProTech is that they are permeable to air but not to water, oil, or dust. Complex sealing processes required to protect sensitive electronics are both time-consuming and costly in manufacturing, storage and processing. These can be replaced by the much simpler PCS membrane label. PCS can be easily applied according to the requirements of the process, either manually or dispensed and applied automatically from a reel.
Pressure compensation seals are made from micro-membrane material that ensures pressure equalization, without allowing water or contaminants to pass through from the outside. They are even capable of withstanding extremes such as steam cleaning. A protective laminate is applied over the PCS to protect the sensitive membrane to give it long lasting functionality, even in automotive underhood applications.
A member of Schreiner ProTech's PCS family of solutions, the Laser Membrane Label fulfills multiple functions which previously required three different labels: 1) pre-printed, multi-colored warning labels, 2) variably printed information labels and 3) sealing or venting.
The endless Laser Membrane Label pre-printed film can be laser-printed during the process, enabling information such as serial numbers or barcodes to be added by the manufacturer. The label shape and airflow hole are laser cut at the same time. Only a single step is required in production. Size, format, and the position of the air hole can be individually defined for each label. The Laser Membrane Label offers maximum flexibility and makes the production process quick, cost-effective and reliable.
