New System Combines Proven Accelerometers with Wireless Technology for Seismic and Structural Monitoring

Columbia Research Laboratories, Inc. has combined wireless technology and data acquisition capabilities from EmNet LLC with CRL proven accelerometers in the new QUAKEnet(TM) structural and seismic monitoring system. This system is ideal for monitoring of bridges, high rises, and other civil engineering structures. At the heart of the system is CRL's Low Noise Accelerometers. These accelerometers are available in 1, 2, and 3 axis configurations and have available ranges from +/- 0.1G to +/- 2G. Used worldwide for structural and seismic monitoring, these accelerometers have been hard wired into the Burj Dubai and numerous buildings in central Italy. Housed in a NEMA enclosure and measuring 9.875" x 5.063" x 3.125", the QUAKEnet system can be easily installed.

EmNet's wireless technology and data acquisition capabilities give customers a seemingly endless number of custom options. Each system is designed to meet individual customer requirements. Some of the options available are data hosting either by the customer or EmNet; choice of power by solar cell, lithium battery, 110V or 220V; and communication by GSM cell phone, CDMA cell phone, or 900 MHz ISM radio. Other standout features of this system include anywhere, anytime web access to data; energy management accomplished by triggering data collection and transmission by vibration threshold or external device such as a camera or RFID. In addition to the many options available, QUAKEnet has the ability to network several units wirelessly connected to a data access point which can be up to 1 mile away. The system can also be integrated with other monitors such as weather stations.
