Ampac Packaging Launches UltraVOID(TM) 2

First 'three-way' security bag for loss prevention

CINCINNATI, Oct. 16 / - Ampac Packaging LLC is launching its new UltraVOID(TM) 2 security deposit bag, which is the first to offer the industry two-way sealing with void messaging.

Unlike other bags which offer either press-to-close or foldover sealing options, UltraVOID(TM) 2 incorporates both for an added measure of security. Additionally, the closure system is backed by visual void messaging when the seals are breeched.

To activate the seal, first the protective release liner is removed from the fold-over strip. This exposes the highly tacky surface onto which the void message has been printed. Because a portion of the bag's adhesive strip is below the opposite or short side of the film, the press-to-close function is activated first when the opposite sides of the bag meet. Then, the strip is folded over to achieve the secondary security seal. Any attempt to compromise the security bag seal results in the UltraVOID(TM) 2 logo appearing in a repetitive pattern.

UltraVOID(TM) 2's enhanced functionality is a result of a three-part manufacturing process and proprietary technology. Unlike most security bags which rely on thinner monolayer low-density polyethylene film (LDPE), UltraVOID(TM) 2 is made from a thicker gauge, three-layer coextruded film blend. Additionally, Ampac uses a ½-inch pouch seal on the vertical sides compared to 1/8-inch fin-weld seals used on competitive products. This results in a tougher, stronger bag which is more resistant to puncture and tampering.

Further, unlike some competitive processes which rely on a third party to create the adhesive/void messaging strip, Ampac Packaging produces it as part of its integrated manufacturing. Because the void message and overlay color is printed inline, the strip does not have to be applied in a separate step, thereby eliminating quality control or product consistency issues. The adhesive is laid directly onto the UltraVOID(TM) 2's printed area to provide a stronger bond, which results in an enhanced tamper-evident bag.

Ampac's technology also helps minimize the chance that the void message will be triggered prematurely during transport or as a result of friction from being stacked in storage.

UltraVOID(TM) 2 security bags are available in either single- or dual- compartment configurations. The bag, receipt and bottom pocket (the latter is found in dual compartment bags) are coded with identical unique numbers and the accompanying bar code can be scanned. The void messaging can be customized for larger quantity orders.

The UltraVOID(TM) 2 is a line extension for Ampac's previously launched UltraVOID(TM) which features press-to-close sealing. The new introduction is yet another innovation from the U.S.'s largest manufacturer of security bag products and offers an alternative for those companies seeking an extra level of protection.
