Nokia IP2450 Packed with Power for High-Demand Network Security

Security Appliance Delivers Performance That Grows With Business' Security Demands

MOUNTAIN VIEW, California and MUNICH, Germany, September 5/-- Nokia (NYSE:NOK) today expands its portfolio of high-performance IP Security appliances with the Nokia IP2450 security platform for firewall/VPN. Benefiting from shared innovations between Nokia, Intel and Check Point, Nokia IP2450 packages the latest advances in chipsets and applications into a proven IP Security appliance model with the ability to increase performance in stages for investment protection into the next decade.

Nokia IP2450 is a high-end, next generation security appliance designed for the demanding price performance and multi-Gigabit Ethernet throughput requirements of large businesses and service providers. With a space-saving two rack unit (2RU) form factor, Nokia IP2450 offers the smallest form factor, lowest price per port and lowest price per Gigabit of firewall throughput in its class, saving valuable rack space and squeezing optimum performance out of every dollar. Featuring two Quad-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) 5355 processors and Intel(R) I/O Acceleration Technology, Nokia IP2450 utilizes the latest in multi-core technology, and packages them together with technology advancements from Check Point and the hardened Nokia IPSO(TM) operating system.

"As threats become more sophisticated and as network traffic patterns change, security solutions must perform deeper inspections of more sizes and types of packets faster than ever before," said Tom Furlong, vice president, Security and Mobile Connectivity, Nokia. "As a result, large businesses and service providers are demanding higher performance from their security appliances, while also balancing the need to control costs and maximize investments. Nokia IP2450 was specifically designed to meet all these needs."

The two quad-core design of Nokia IP2450 enables customers to activate the security features of Check Point VPN-1 Power and Check Point VPN-1 UTM, and improves overall system performance in mission-critical environments. In addition, it is optimized to support next-generation multi-processing enterprise security technologies such as Check Point CoreXL multi-core intelligent load balancing.

Many businesses face unpredictable growth from mergers, acquisitions, or other business changes, which places higher performance demands on their network security appliances. To meet these expanding security demands, Nokia IP2450 extends the range of the Nokia IP security appliance portfolio into the very high end with an appliance designed for business continuity, scalability and extensibility. Nokia IP2450 will offer investment protection by allowing customers to increase the platform's performance to approximately 20 Gigabits (Gbps) of firewall throughput by purchasing up to two high-port density Nokia Accelerated Data Path Cards. Additional performance improvements may be achieved in stages when needed by investing in software upgrades and installing the latest multiprocessing software applications.

Pricing, Service and Support
Nokia IP2450 is available now starting at $59,995USD and is backed by world-class Nokia First Call-Final Resolution global support and services.
