While VMX 2000e provides up to 12 TB raw storage capacity and 220 MB/sec sustained read/write operation, VMX 2000sx offers further scalability to 60 TB and I/O performance over 400 MB/sec. Both models utilize 2U, 12-drive rack-mounted chassis.

Wasabi Systems Launches VMX iSCSI SAN Appliance Solutions


New series of iSCSI storage arrays scales to 60TB of high performance storage for less than $2.00 per GB

NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 27 -- Wasabi Systems today announced the availability of its new VMX iSCSI SAN appliances: complete storage solutions that offer unprecedented performance, flexibility and scalability for the price. The enterprise level storage architecture of the VMX arrays combine affordable, high-capacity SATA drive technology with multiple GbE interfaces, making highly reliable, accelerated data access a reality for virtual systems. High speed, high reliability SAS drives are also available.

Delivering scalable storage capacity and a flexible SAN infrastructure, Wasabi VMX is designed to virtualize storage from the data path without imposing any performance penalties. The VMX 2000e is an entry level system that provides up to 12 TB of raw storage capacity and up to 220 MB/sec of sustained read and write operation and the VMX 2000sx offers further scalability of up to 60TB raw capacity and over 400MB/sec I/O performance. Both models utilize a 2U / 12 drive rack mounted chassis.

Key features of the Wasabi VMX series include:

-- Ease of Use: Our graphical user interface offers an easy to follow step by step means of configuring and managing each system over any web-browser.

-- Data Protection: Application flexible advanced RAID and volume management. RAID levels 0,1,10,5 and 50 supported in 2000e with RAID 6, 60 and 61 added in 2000sx.

-- Reliability: Both models utilize dual hot-swappable power supplies and hot swappable cooling fans internally. Additionally, each configuration uses Seagate ES SATA drives for enterprise class reliability.

-- Performance: With the VMX 2000e series benchmarked at up to 220MB/Second sustained read and write performance and the dual-core VMX 2000sx series sustaining up to 400 MB/Second, even the most demanding applications are handled with ease.

-- Flexibility: High performance applications are optimized using high speed 3 Gbps SAS drives or create high capacity utility storage using 1TB SATA drives.

-- Visibility: Thorough measurement of temperature, fan speed, access and reporting ensure each system is safe and operating within limits. Automatic notification of system problems is provided via email or SNMP.
