Imperial Electric Introduces New Scaffold Hoist and Accessories

Akron, OH (March 24, 2003) Designed as a solution for hoisting heavy objects onto a scaffold, the new ALPHA 440P solves two problems for contractors: delivering material to upper stages, and mounting the hoist to the scaffolding.

The main unit of this hoist stays on the ground and only the pulley support is mounted to the scaffold leg. Think about installing something that weighs 30 pounds, not nearly 100. The use of the ALPHA 440P + HSPS means that no leveling is required as the crew moves from stage to stage. Work proceeds quickly with much less effort.

The hoist unit is held to the ground by ballast weights covering two pipes mounted in the available holes in the hoist housing. Anchoring or welding to the deck has also been used. The workers have 80 feet of control cable to remove themselves from beneath the load. The lifting capacity is 440 pounds. Wire rope length is 260 feet. Hoist is rated as continuous duty.

Hoist is all metal construction. Action is power-up/power-down, with an adjustable upper limit switch and is self-braking with power off. Accessories make the unit more flexible for swinging loads onto staging or mounting in window or door frames.

Imperial Electric is an operating unit of Kinetek, which is owned by Jordan Industries. In addition to ALPHA Hoists, the company is a leading producer of permanent magnet motors and gearbox assemblies. Applications include floor care products, elevators, escalators, power reels, salt spreaders and lift equipment.
