Optical quality Sapphire Tubes and Rods are offered as-grown or can be fabricated with all surfaces polished to uniform and clear finish per MIL-PRF-13830. Available in 1/8-2 in. dia sizes up to 500 mm long with .020 in. wall, tubes incorporate 80-50 scratch-dig ID finish and 60-40 scratch-dig OD. Sapphire Rods are offered in sizes from .080-1 in. dia up to 800 mm long. All products are chemically inert, making them suited for optical, medical, and wear applications.

Sapphire Tubes and Rods Offered As-Grown or Highly Polished
A new line of optical quality sapphire tubes and rods for use as plungers, tips, insulators, flow control devices, spacers, and light guides is being introduced by Meller Optics, Inc. of Providence, Rhode Island.
Meller Sapphire Tubes and Rods are offered as-grown or can be fabricated with all surfaces polished to a uniform and clear finish per MIL-PRF-13830. Extremely durable, they feature Moh 9 hardness and are chemically inert, making them ideal for a wide range optical, medical, and wear applications.
Available in 1/8" to 2" dia. sizes up to 500 mm long, with a .020" wall, Meller Sapphire Tubes incorporate an 80-50 scratch-dig I.D. finish and a 60-40 scratch-dig O.D. and can be provided with one end sealed, if required. Sapphire Rods are offered in sizes from .080" to 1" dia. up to 800 mm long.
