World Leader in Emergency Eyecare Unveils New 100% Sterile Eyewash Solution

Sperian Sterile Saline Provides Bacteria- and Contamination-Free Eyewash

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Oct. 15, 2007 - Sperian today announced the launch of its new sterile saline emergency eyewash solution for the industry-leading Fendall Pure Flow 1000® and for the brand-new Fendall 2000(TM) emergency eyewash stations. The saline, which is 100 percent sterile, offers significant advantages over tap water. Buffered to the same pH as the human eye, the new sterile eyewash solution offers unmatched safety and flushing comfort to the injured.

"A common misconception about eyewash solutions is that they are all sterile," said Christine Mello, senior product manager of Emergency Eyewash Products, Sperian. "Sperian sealed, sterile saline eyewash solution is produced and packaged in a clean room and tested for stability in accordance with FDA guidelines. Free from living bacteria, living organisms and contaminants, the sterile solution from Sperian delivers a completely safe flushing solution for injured eyes."

When compared to tap water, research shows that sterile solution offers the best protection from contaminants and bacteria, which could potentially cause secondary trauma to an already-injured eye. Sterile eyewash solution reduces the risk of potential liability if eye injury from flushing with contaminated water occurs.

"Because the new sterile solution is physiologically similar to human tears, it can be used comfortably and safely for the full 15-minute ANSI- and OSHA-recommended eye flushing duration," added Mello. "This feature, aside from the obvious benefits, such as increased productivity and cost savings for the employer, is the product's most critical benefit."

Sperian sterile saline solution was designed exclusively for the company's new Fendall 2000 sealed-cartridge portable emergency eyewash station and the Fendall Pure Flow 1000 unit. The 100-percent sterile eyewash solution has a two-year shelf life.

The new Sperian sterile saline emergency eyewash solution is available for purchase through major safety equipment distributors nationwide or by contacting the company's customer care department directly at 1-800-FENDALL, option #3. For more product information, please visit www.fendall.com.
