November 29, 2006 - SAMOS Safety Modular System offers fully adjustable design, whereby each active component has selector switch that allows user to change device to correspond to sensor being used. Logic functions such as AND and OR circuits, plus time delays are also possible through selector switches, all without special programming software. Full safety system is handled with 4 basic modules; each master and slave module can handle 2 safety circuits.

New Low Cost Modular Safety System

UNLIKE ANYTHING ELSE ON THE MARKET!!!

First introduced in Europe in September, 2005, and new to the US market, Wieland's newly certified SAMOS Safety Modular System covers a wide assortment of industrial safety applications.....

Wieland Electric, Inc. is pleased to announce a NEW approach to Safety applications which is fully certified by Underwriters Laboratories (U.L.) listings corresponding to UL File number E179304, Volume 1, effective, 21 July, 2006.

The SAMOS line is a modular, expandable safety system that conforms to all the following safety standards. O.S.H.A. 1910, A.N.S.I. B-11, C.S.A.: Z142-02, Z432-94, Z434-03, CATEGORY 4 of EN 954, SIL 3 of IEC 61508 and DIN V 19250 & DIN V VDE 0801.

"With so many applications utilizing a wide variety of safety sensors requiring relays capable of interfacing with these sensors, it is hard for the O.E.M. or machine builder to stock all the various combinations. The Wieland SAMOS Safety Modular System answers this problem by providing a fully adjustable, expandable system. Each active component has a selector switch which allows the user to change the device to correspond to the sensor being used. In addition, logic functions such as "AND" & "OR" circuits plus time delays are also possible through the selector switches, all without special programming software or knowledge. Plus the configuration is easily read from the front of the modules" said Wieland National Applications Engineer, Ed Nachel. "The full safety system is handled with only 4 basic modules and each Master and Slave module can handle 2 safety circuits (most relays only handle 1), plus the system can be expanded to provide up to 10 safety zones and 50 safety devices. Further functionality is possible with the addition of a Buscoupler module which allows the SAMOS system to communicate over Device Net, Profibus DP or CAN open. This versatile safety system is unique to the industry and a cost effective solution for all machine safety concerns."

The modules can be found on pages 335 through 343 in the new 2006 AT products catalog or you may request a brochure from our Burgaw, NC office.
