April 3, 2002 - Clear, polypropylene Spra-Gard(R) Safety Shields permit inspection by maintenance personnel. They allow early detection of leaks and prevent sprayout of hazardous chemicals. Overlap design allows shield to be wrapped around pipe joint completely. Shields are suitable for temperatures up to 225 deg F and pressures to 1100 psi. They are inhibited against UV degradation and resist ignition and flame propagation.

PPL (VUE) Spra-Gard(R) Safety Shield

RAMCOŽ Manufacturing Co., Inc. has developed a "See Thru" PPL (polypropylene) Spra-GardŽ Safety Shield. This shield, fabricated originally to meet the needs of a customer, was received with marked enthusiasm.and now is available worldwide.

This unique RAMCOŽ Safety Shield enhances safety in the plant environment by permitting easy visual inspection of pipe joints by maintenance personnel, allowing early detection of leaks and preventing dangerous sprayouts of hazardous chemicals. It combines the features and benefits of the PPL Spra-GardŽ Shield with the added advantage of clear ECTFE as the "See Thru". They are fabricated virtually for all pipe connections -- flanges, valves, flow indicators, expansion joints and threaded connections.

Its construction parallels that for all RAMCOŽ thermoplastic shields. The overlap design allows the shield to be wrapped around the pipe joint completely, preventing both frontal and lateral sprayouts of chemicals. This "See Thru" shield is suitable for temperatures up to 225 deg F (107 deg C), demonstrates pressure resistance up to 1100 psi (76 Bar) and has marked versatility with broad spectrum chemical resistance. It is especially useful on systems carrying hydrofluoric acid, a highly virulent chemical that is used in petroleum cracking operations and also in glass etching. Since all Spra-GardŽ Shields are inhibited against ultra-violet degradation, they will
tolerate installation both indoors and outdoors. Other critical features of all Spra-GardŽ Shields are their ability to resist ignition and flame propagation.

RAMCOŽ also manufactures safety shields in a wide variety of materials -- teflon-coated fiberglass, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, both galvanized and stainless
steel -- and they are capable of withstanding concentrated acids and alkalis as well as most other aggressive chemicals and solvents at various temperatures and pressures. All plastic
safety shields (except the "See-Thru" shields) contain a replaceable indicator that changes color on contact with a leaking chemical, thus providing an immediate visual signal of a
failing flange seal or pipe fitting.
