Eaton Launches Safety Control Solutions for Customers in North America


ESR5 Safety Relay Monitors Safety of Circuits

Pittsburgh ... Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation is expanding its safety solutions for North American customers with the introduction of the ESR5 safety relay. The ESR5 is engineered to monitor safety circuits and will be a key enhancement to the safety of equipment. Already available in Europe, the device is designed specifically for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

"Eaton provides customers with a range of safety solutions aimed at prevention, protection and preparation," said Richard Harwell, advanced solutions manager at Eaton. "The ESR5 safety relay is engineered to offer a high degree of reliability and safety for plant machinery.

The ESR5 is designed to reliably monitor the signals from safety devices and switch off quickly in an emergency. With redundant features, it is engineered for the construction of safety applications. The ESR5 is compatible with a range of safety devices, including emergency stops, rope pulls, two-hand control stations and others. In the event of a fault or activation of the safety device, the enable paths are switched off. The ESR5 detects faults that occur in the control circuit, including ground fault, cross connection fault or wire breakage. It is available in single- and dual-channel versions.

Rated for global applications, the ESR5 safety relay is designed in accordance with European standard (EN) 954-1, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 13849-1, InternationalElectrotechnical Commission (IEC) 62061 and 61508. The ESR5 also meets Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 508, Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and Conformit Europenne (CE) standards and certifications. It is rated by TVRheinland for use in safety applications.
