Elobau Introduces Safety Interlocks
Elobau Sensor Technology Inc. announces that it now has a complete line of interlock switches for safety applications for the automation and specialty machine market.
Our switches are used to protect personnel by monitoring and interrupting the safety circuit depending on the position of the machine guard. The locking solenoid holds the guard closed until a stored energy hazard has dissipated. It can also prevent damage to a part in process due to an inadvertent machine shutdown. To meet current worldwide standards, safety interlock components cannot be easily bypassed. These switches have positive opening contacts (in accordance to NFPA 79) and redundancy to guarantee that they fail to a safe state
The features of the interlocks include solenoid locking, narrow metal body housing and metal actuating head, rotatable actuator head with top and side entry, actuator insertion funnel that increases entry area, straight, bent, and hinged actuators (including over-travel). Typical configuration is 4 contacts: 2 NC positively driven safety contacts, annunciation contacts and door and solenoid monitoring contacts. Additionally, there also versions with LED's.
These elobau interlocks are made of die-cast aluminum actuator head and housing and carry an IP67 environmental protection IP67 (oil and dust tight and water resistant)
The ambient operating temperature is -20 to 55°C. The aforementioned 4 contact elements are low current rated, silver alloy and gold flashed. The voltage ratings available are 24 VAC/DC, 110 VAC and 220 VAC.
