Caradigm Releases Advanced Single Sign-On and Context Management Solutions
Enhancements tighten integration with virtual desktop technologies, simplify security compliance and accelerate clinical workstation deployment
BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Caradigm today announced it has introduced new versions of Caradigm® Single Sign-On and Caradigm Context Management, products that work together to give clinicians quicker, more secure access to healthcare applications and patient data. The new solutions streamline workflows in virtual desktop (VDI) environments, automate management of clinical workstations and expedite compliance reporting.
Among the many enhancements, version 6 provides native integration with widely used VDI technologies such as VMWare® and Citrix®, allowing clinicians quicker access to applications running in a virtual environment. It also lightens the IT workload by automating the monitoring and management of VDI roaming.
"IT teams face increasing pressure to improve clinical workflows while driving down costs," said Jim Campbell, vice president of Identity and Access Management (IAM) for Caradigm. "To meet those challenges, many organizations have migrated to virtual desktops, so we've answered the call by integrating version 6 with leading VDI systems. We've also eased another bottleneck they encounter - increasing regulation of security - by adding out-of-the-box compliance reporting capability."
Caradigm's unique Privacy Auditor software now comes packaged as an integral component of both products. Designed in response to HIPAA, HITECH and other new regulations, Privacy Auditor captures a comprehensive audit trail that spans clinical and non-clinical applications. It shows which patient records have been accessed by a particular user, which application and workstation were used and when that individual accessed them.
Using the six standardized report forms of Privacy Auditor, administrators can respond to audit requests within minutes rather than days. They can also create custom reports to meet specific organizational needs and export them in a range of different formats.
Version 6 adds other new features to the Single Sign-On and Context Management products that eliminate stress points for both clinicians and IT teams:

--Â Enhanced self-service password reset increases security and usability, minimizing helpdesk calls.
--Â An updated central configuration tool enables quicker setup, simpler management of client workstations.
--Â Improved bridge tooling streamlines building and updating of application bridges.
Caradigm's Single Sign-On and Context Management software makes it easier for clinicians and IT staff to protect patient privacy and system security. One-tap logoffs and timeouts eliminate the need for generic or shared credentials. Integration with smartcards and biometrics supports compliance with ePrescribing and EPCS. Context Management reduces the risk of medical error by automatically tuning different applications to the same patient. With the tap of a badge, clinicians can unlock a workstation, launch their primary EHR, call a roaming VDI session, sign orders and then lock the device.
