Caliper Life Sciences Introduces Zephyr SPE Workstation to Improve Efficiency of Solid Phase Extraction

- Automated Benchtop Workstation Aids Mass Spectrometer Analysis -

HOPKINTON, Mass., Dec. 11 -- Caliper Life Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:CALP) today announced the availability of the Zephyr SPE Workstation, a benchtop solution designed to automate Solid Phase Extraction (SPE). With features including a 96-well plate format and easy-to-use, SPE-specific software interface, the Zephyr SPE Workstation is designed to increase efficiency and streamline the sample preparation process for mass spectrometer analysis.

Used in various scientific applications, such as isolating chemical analytes in biological samples, SPE is a fundamental process for practical applications including drugs of abuse screening, drug metabolism testing, contract research screening and forensic sample screening. Amid the rapid growth of the mass spectrometer market, the Zephyr SPE Workstation's customized features meet industry demand for sample preparation tools that improve throughput and streamline processes.

"As the mass spectrometry market continues to grow, increased demand has been placed on sample preparation tools. Researchers need reliable systems that improve throughput and streamline processes," said John Siira, Market Segment Manager, Caliper Life Sciences. "The Zephyr SPE Workstation is Caliper's solution for higher throughput solid phase extraction."

The Zephyr SPE Workstation can process 96 samples simultaneously, amplifying sample preparation throughput. Cost-efficient with a convenient benchtop design, the workstation also offers clog detection, which enables operators to reliably process all samples.

The Zephyr SPE Workstation, US$65K for a complete solution, is currently available for purchase. Additional information can be found online at http://www.caliperls.com/.
