Multi-Tech's New MultiModem iSMS Intelligent SMS Server with API Brings Text Messaging to M2M Applications
MINNEAPOLIS - Multi-Tech is now shipping a new MultiModem® iSMS intelligent SMS server, which leverages text messaging to cost-effectively send or receive information, instructions, status updates or alerts. The standalone, turnkey device is unique in its ability to integrate text messaging communications into third party M2M (machine-to-machine) applications via an easy-to-program, highly flexible API (Application Programming Interface).
The MultiModem iSMS intelligent SMS server can be programmed to initiate a truck roll, and provide location and time coordinates, inventory level notices, threshold warnings, meteorological readings and alerts. A company in India has tied the MultiModem iSMS into their inventory system. When inventory falls below a certain level, a text message is sent alerting the purchasing manager that new items need to be ordered.
The MultiModem iSMS server is now being evaluated for multi-national deployment by a number of pharmacies for refill reminders. A message would be sent to customers when prescriptions are due to be refilled. Customers would then send back trigger messages with refill instructions. The pharmacy would send a final text when the orders are ready for pickup. The device is also perfect for retail loyalty program applications.

The MultiModem iSMS intelligent SMS server solution includes an integrated server, database and quad-band GSM modem(s) in one compact device. Setting it up is a simple process of connecting to the application network, inserting a properly configured SIM card(s) and configuring from a network-connected PC using a web interface. The ready-to-use solution simply plugs into an Ethernet network and connects to the cellular network via an integrated quad-band GSM modem. Models are available with 1, 4 and 8 ports to allow scalability for all business sizes.
