Comtrol RocketPort® EXPRESS SMPTE Cards Deliver Broadcast Industry Device Connections Via PCI Express Expansion Bus


Minneapolis, MN - July 9, 2008 - Comtrol Corporation, an expert in device connectivity solutions, announces the release of the RocketPort(R) EXPRESS 8-Port SMPTE PCI Express serial card for the broadcast industry.

The RocketPort EXPRESS SMPTE product delivers eight ports of additional in-server serial expansion for broadcast industry applications connecting devices using the SMPTE cabling standard. This new SMPTE addition to the RocketPort EXPRESS family can accommodate up to 32 ports per system using four cards, features a half-height design for use in low-profile PCs and supports the PCI Express expansion bus for compatibility with the latest PC architecture.

"The release of this product is going to provide our broadcast customers with the ability to migrate to updated computer systems with the PCI Express bus slot and still use our SMPTE cable for industry standard connections," said Rob Iten, director of distribution sales at Comtrol.
