Datamate Expands Its SFP Product Line to Include Four Port SFP EMI Cage

CHICAGO, IL - dataMate Products, a division of Methode Electronics, Inc., has expanded its SFP product line to include a four port SFP EMI cage. The cage is designed for use with both copper and optical Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) transceivers for Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, and Infiniband applications.

The perimeter of dataMate's four port SFP EMI cage is a robust 1-piece construction of a stamped copper alloy. The walls between ports are composed of this same copper alloy and are soldered to the perimeter and mechanically locked. This type of construction provides even tighter port-to-port spacing than is specified in the SFP MSA. This is an important feature to maximize port density.

Press-fit pins allow the cage to be securely mounted to a printed circuit board without solder (although the cage is solderable, should the application call for it). The four port cage is available in two PCB footprint configurations including one compatible with belly-to-belly applications. It is also available with lightpipes to display LED indicators from the host board to the chassis bezel.

dataMate specializes in custom applications and integrating value-added features to SFP EMI cages. Other multi-port cage configurations are available including 2-port and 3-port modules.

Heatsinks can be integrated with the cage assembly to help dissipate heat from the transceiver. The cage is available in RoHS-compliant matte tin or gold flash plating finishes.

The four port SFP EMI cage is just one product in dataMate's complete line of Small Form Factor Pluggable solutions, which includes SFP connectors, active and passive patch cord assemblies, copper transceivers and copper loopbacks.

dataMate's four port SFP EMI cage (without lightpipes) is priced under $4.25 at quantities of 10K. Samples are available from stock.
