Telairity Introduces BE7400 Standard-Definition H.264/AVC Video Encoder at IBC 2007

1-RU Unit Designed for Use by Global Broadcast Operations and IPTV Installations

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, Sept. 4 - Telairity, Inc. today announced the global introduction of the Telairity BE7400 Standard Definition (SD) Broadcaster Encoder, a powerful four-channel digital encoding system that enables real time standard-definition video transmission for broadcast, post-production and IPTV applications. The system was shown at IBC 2007 at the RAI Conference Center. Telairity is located in Booth 1-493.

A scalable, fully programmable broadcast encoder, the BE7400 provides one of the fastest transmission rates available: a low latency of under 50ms. The "instant-on" feature enables broadcasts to begin transmitting within five seconds of powering on. The BE7400 works with virtually any H.264/AVC- compliant decoder including units from Tandberg, Conexant, Wegener, Adtec, Sencore, Eagle Broadband, and Amino.

Four fully independent channels can be processed simultaneously along with up to four stereo audio programs per video channel. Featuring H.264/AVC Main Profile, Level 3 digital encoding for both NTSC (480i) and PAL (576i) formats, each channel is capable of simultaneous IP and DVB-ASI output. On the audio side, the BE7400 supports AAC-LC audio for high audio quality at a low compressed bit rate. MPEG-1 Layer II and Dolby Digital pass-through is also supported.

Like all Telairity encoding systems, the BE7400 uses Telairity designed and manufactured technology throughout, starting with the patented Telairty-1 [T1P2000] video processor. The T1P200 is designed to provide the highest performance, multi-processor multicore solution available (processing speed: sustained 400 GOP/S).

"HDTV is forcing sweeping technological changes across the television industry," said Howard Sachs, president and CEO of Telairity. "The key to economical HD transmission and storage is H.264 compression. Our high-definition BE8000 encoder, announced last year at IBC, makes live remote HDTV practical for the first time by providing the industry with a true low latency, high quality H.264 compression solution.

"Our new BE7400 system now provides the same high quality, low latency H.264 compression for SD as the BE800 provides in HD. Broadcasters and others who need the benefits of efficient compression can consolidate all their transmission and storage requirements on the most advanced open-standard compression technology available today."
