Trimark Launches T1-S Solar Controller



FOLSOM, Calif. -- Trimark Associates has announced the launch of T1-S Solar Controller, a SCADA system engineered specifically to manage output from utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) power inverters.



"The nature of solar electricity generation creates challenges for maintaining consistent power factor, frequency and voltage across the grid," said Mark Morosky, President of Trimark Associates, Inc. "We developed T1-S Solar Controller to provide sophisticated inverter management that will be necessary when 33% of California's power is generated by renewable resources."



Generating electricity from renewable, intermittent resources creates challenges for maintaining consistent wattage, power factor, frequency and voltage across the grid. Geographic location, resource concentration, variability in size and capability make PV resources a challenge to manage.



To address these challenges, Trimark is collaborating with Sandia National Labs to test T1-S Solar Controller. Sandia is leading an international consortium of researchers to define a standard approach to PV inverter control. Trimark and Sandia will configure, test and implement these algorithms using this control software.



Trimark's T1-S Solar Controller enables secure adjustments to inverter control algorithms. Control commands may originate from the facility operator or an authorized external authority (e.g. local utility or ISO) over a secure network.
