CAL Controls Introduces CALgrafix

Mini-SCADA product that uses OPC client/server architecture to simplify process monitoring and networking

Libertyville, IL - CAL Controls Inc., a leader in temperature and process controls, introduces their newest software product, CALgrafix. CALgrafix is a cost-effective, PC-based data and chart recording system that integrates charting, logging, alarm and configuration features within a single package. CALgrafix requires minimal setting up before connecting to a network of CAL Controls or other OPC compliant temperature and process controllers.

CALgrafix is ideal for applications where logging and charting of data is essential such as: environmental and test chambers, plastic injection and extrusion, metal and glass annealing, finishing, curing, food processing, scientific equipment, ovens, kilns and autoclaves plus many more.

The set-up features within CALgrafix significantly reduce programming time for configuring a large number of controllers. Data entry is quick and easy, removing the need to scroll though menus on the controller keypad, once changes are made, the settings are downloaded to the controller. A cloning feature also allows groups of parameters to be sent to a number of controllers that require identical settings. CALgrafix has a unique feature that eliminates profile configuration time by allowing the user to create complex profiles with a simple graphical drag'n'drop operation.

CALgrafix's logging and charting functions, including process value, set point and % power output, can monitor all process values and controller functions. There is an option for automatic logging of data so that charts can be created for a specific period of time, for example, logging data for each shift. An archiving facility, when selected, stores charts automatically after a time period defined by the user, ensuring that data is backed up.

CALgrafix provides centralized alarm notification that has screen display priority during alarm conditions to ensure maximum visibility. An audible alarm using a customer specified .wav file could also be set to assist in bringing alarms to the attention of the user. As an OPC client, CALgrafix can be used to connect to number of RS485 controller networks or other products with OPC server support. It is also possible for a number of networked PCs running CALgrafix or other OPC clients to access data from controller networks independently, overall, the networking options are vast.

CAL Controls, founded in 1963, is a recognized worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of temperature and process controllers for industrial, equipment and process applications. CAL provides affordable control solutions and pioneered both the 1/16 DIN and 1/32 DIN formats for panel mount temperature control. Today, CAL is focusing efforts on providing affordable SCADA and networking capabilities for OEM's and Plant/Facility operators.
