Ruggedized, Affordable Telematics Device Gives Contractors Detailed Insight into Mixed Fleet Assets and Productivity in VisionLink

LAS VEGAS -- Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) today introduced the Trimble(®) SNM451 Connected Site(®) Gateway, a ruggedized telematics device for tracking and managing the efficiency of site assets, light equipment and haul vehicles in Trimble's Web-based VisionLink(®) fleet, asset and site productivity management solution. Coupled with VisionLink version 2.10, the low-cost SNM451 provides project owners, fleet managers and equipment rental companies the critical information they need to more effectively allocate resources and improve the productivity of their mixed fleet.

The announcement was made today at ConExpo 2014, one of the world's largest international exhibitions for the construction industry.

Powerful Insight from a Rugged Telematics Device

The Trimble SNM451 acts as a liaison between the job site and the office, communicating asset location, run time, cycle time and load count information via cellular connection as often as once a minute. Equipment status, including engine on and equipment location, helps the contractor monitor work status and performance. Fleet managers and other stakeholders can stay connected to their assets from a laptop, tablet or smartphone even when they are not physically on site.

In addition to its powerful reporting features, the SNM451 is designed to be extremely rugged and easy to maintain for installation in harsh work environments.

"There are a variety of low-cost telematics devices on the market, but many aren't designed for the construction environment, so they end up costing more in the long run due to replacement costs and additional visits to the jobsite," said Roz Buick, vice president and general manager of Trimble's Heavy Civil Construction Division. "With an IP-67 rating, a rugged power supply and the power of VisionLink reporting in the office, the SNM451 device stands in a class of its own. It supplies the targeted information contractors need to make operational decisions."

Availability

The Trimble SNM451 Connected Site Gateway and VisionLink version 2.10 are available now through the Trimble SITECH(®) Technology Dealer Channel in North America, Europe and Australia.
