Rugged, Fixed-Mount 1205-PS Computer from Duros Gets Power and Connectivity Upgrade
More memory, faster speed in rugged computer for public safety applications
TEMPE, Ariz., Oct. 28 /-- Already a popular choice for public safety and first-responder vehicles, the reengineered 1205-PS fixed-mount, rugged computer from Duros(TM) has been updated with an Intel® Core(TM) Duo 1.6 GHz processor, double the RAM and two additional USB ports. These new upgrades boost performance in the field for the 1205-PS, which, with its solid aluminum housing, is one of the most rugged fixed-mount computers on the market.
By trading its Pentium chip for a Core Duo processor and doubling the RAM to 2 GB, the upgraded Duros 1205-PS can integrate video and run demanding Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) software.
Specifically designed to meet the needs of police, security, EMS and fire applications, the Duros 1205-PS rugged computer features an ultra-thin, compact design, allowing for flush dashboard mounting that is clear of airbag zones and limits intrusion into valuable cabin space. With the CPU, display, power supply and connection ports all integrated into a single unit, multiple components and cables are not required.
The SVGA display features a wide, 120-degree viewing angle and can be activated by most pointing devices, including a gloved or ungloved finger. The 1,000-nit, sunlight-viewable display features instant blanking and full dimming for times when displayed information is proprietary.
"When lives and safety are at stake, first responders must have equipment that works," said Eric Miller, Duros general manager. "The Duros 1205-PS already was rugged enough to perform under the most challenging conditions. Now it is faster and has more memory, giving first responders ready access to additional tools and resources to better perform their jobs."
With multiple options for RAM, HDD, processors, keyboard and radio connectivity, it can be configured to meet an organization's specific needs. Built to last, the Duros 1205-PS can be upgraded to stay current with advancing technology and comes with a five-year warranty, one of the industry's longest for a fixed-mount computer.
