Beck Releases Rotary Electric Actuators Certified for Hazardous Locations

Newtown PA (November 4, 2005) - Harold Beck & Sons, Inc. announces the release of a new version of its rugged Group 11 rotary control drive (electric actuator) rated for hazardous environments. The Group 11E is certified for applications in Class 1 Division 1 locations which present an ignition or explosion risk. Beck Group 11 drives are used for automatic modulation of dampers, quarter-turn valves and other final control elements which require fine, responsive control. The Group 11E extends the company's product line to environments and applications which can now benefit from the precise control Beck products are known for, such as power generation, pulp/paper and many other industries.

The Group 11E drive offers the excellent performance and maintenance-free design common to all Beck actuators, plus the flexibility and superior features afforded by microprocessor-based electronics. The unique Beck design allows for precise control, with low current draw and no duty-cycle limitations. The on-board control module feeds the drive's motor windings directly, completely eliminating external motor starters and controls. The drive does not coast or overshoot, and will not overheat even under continuous modulation. The control module includes many features and functions such as variable speed operation, communications capabilities and diagnostics.

Headquartered in Newtown, Pennsylvania, USA, Harold Beck & Sons, Inc. designs and manufacturers a full line of electric actuators for precise control of dampers, valves, fluid couplings and other final control elements in high-value processes. Since 1936, Beck drives have earned a reputation in electric utility, pulp/paper, steel, aluminum, cement, glass, mineral, and other industries for outstanding performance, reliability and value.
