New NSF 61-Compliant Rigid Vinyl Compounds Provide Heat Stability in Potable Water, Beverage, and Irrigation Systems

Thermal Stability Helps Lengthen Processing Uptime between Mold Cleanings

PAWTUCKET, RI, U.S.A., - Two new rigid vinyl compounds for injection molding small- to medium-sized parts provide enhanced thermal stability in potable-water applications requiring NSF-61 certification, it was announced today by the Vinyl Division of Teknor Apex Company.

"Apex® RM 8002 and RM 8004 compounds exhibit lower levels of thermal degradation during processing than many other PVC-based materials, permitting longer production times between mold cleanings," said Michael J. Renzi, business development manager. "With excellent heat deflection temperature ratings and impact resistance, these new materials perform well at temperature extremes encountered in rigorous target applications."

Teknor Apex recommends the Apex compounds for valves, housings, fittings, couplings, connectors, and other small- to medium-sized parts used in applications such as potable water fixtures, water coolers, beverage dispensers, and irrigation systems. The compounds are available in black, white, and the full range of colors.

Teknor Apex produces the compounds in NSF-certified plants in Rhode Island and California.
