Ribbon Blender enables complete discharge.
August 7, 2009 -
Available in sizes from Ĺ-515 cu-ft, Model 42NSD features discharge screw positioned across entire length of trough, and powered by separate direct drive system for independent speed control. Close tolerances between screw and trough provide positive flow and discharge force, enabling use of extrusion die when blender is being used for pasty materials. Blender is suited for both dry and fluid blending applications in chemical, food, pharmaceutical, and plastics industries.

Ross Introduces Screw Discharge Ribbon Blender
Warren Ang- Product Manager has announced the completion of a new model of the popular line of Ross Ribbon Blenders. The new model is designated as the "42NSD".
Ribbon Blenders are most often used for dry and fluid blending applications in the chemical, food, pharmaceutical and plastics industries. Upon completion of the blending cycle, discharge has traditionally been through a valve mounted in the bottom center of the u-shaped trough. This new design features a discharge screw positioned across the entire length of the trough. The screw is powered by a separate direct drive system for independent speed control.
The discharge/extruder assembly is designed with very close tolerances between the screw and the trough. This provides a positive flow and discharge force enabling the use of an extrusion die when the blender is being used for pasty materials. The screw runs forward during the discharge cycle, and in reverse towards the driven end during the blending cycle.
The advantages of this design include:
o The ability to discharge continuously at variable rates to match downstream packaging operations
o Removable screw for cleaning purposes
o Minimal dead space and more thorough blending
o Complete discharge
The new 42NSD Ribbon Blender is available is virtually any material of construction and with options to suit the process. Optional features include vacuum construction, jacketed troughs for heating or cooling, sanitary finishes, choppers used to break up agglomerated powders, liquid spray bars and more. This model is available in many sizes from Ĺ through 515 cu.ft.
