April 28, 2014 - Building upon parametric modeling paradigm of SolidWorks, Point2CAD v2.1 allows users of Faro, Romer, Microscribe, and Baces3D articulating arms to create parametric solid models from physical parts. Version 2.1 provides sketching algorithms, repeatable cross-sections, probe compensation methods, and deviation functionality. With measurement module, users can check and record distances, angles, perimeters, and area as well as perform volume calculations based on various interactions.

Press release date: April 14, 2014

IRVINE, CA -- 3D Infotech, a global company providing 3D technologies for engineering and manufacturing, has announced the release of a new version of its Point2CADŽ software. In this new release, users of Point2CADŽ 2.1 will be able to directly model physical parts into SolidWorks CAD software using any 3D articulating arm.

Point2CADŽ 2.1 builds upon the easy-to-use integrated parametric modeling paradigm of SolidWorks and allows users of Faro, Romer, Microscribe and Baces3D arms to create parametric solid models rapidly from physical parts. Reverse Engineering using contact probes has never been easier! The new version brings improvements including new sketching algorithms, repeatable cross-sections, additional probe compensation methods, improved deviation functionality and robust measurement module.

Point2CADŽ is indispensable software for intuitively reverse-engineer physical parts into SolidWorks CAD environment. With Point2CADŽ you can easily create parametric solid models from your physical part. Using an arm is like using your mouse, but with the added ability to capture data live in 3D. The new measurement module allows users to quickly check and record distances, angles, perimeters, area and perform volume calculations based on various interactions. Define coordinate systems, probe features such as circles, slots and much more to generate the ideal model. You can even check your work or get guidance for defining tolerance, by probing over the part using the deviation check function.

Availability
For more information, or to receive free trial of Point2CADŽ, please visit www.point2cad.com. The software is made available for evaluation for two weeks at no cost. Users must have SolidWorks 2010-2014 and an articulating arm. For Microscribe arms, please contact GoMeasure 3D, the Master Distributor of Point2CAD in the United States.
