3M Launches New Full Facepiece Reusable Respirator for Extreme Conditions

Product design earns prestigious "Red Dot Award: Product Design 2010"

St. Paul, Minn. - 3M expands its reusable facepiece respirator offering with the new 3M(TM) Ultimate FX Full Facepiece Reusable Respirator FF-400 Series, designed for flexibility in extreme environments. This new respirator facepiece is engineered to deliver comfort and durability, while enabling a wide peripheral view, quick assembly and disassembly, and an easy- to-clean lens.

The Ultimate FX FF-400 respirator recently garnered an award from one of the most prestigious international design competitions in the world. In the recent "Red Dot Award: Product Design 2010," the Ultimate FX FF-400 respirator was honored with the "red dot" quality label for high design quality by a jury consisting of top-class experts. For further information concerning this award, please visit www.red-dot.de/press.

"What we learned from our customers, who represent diverse industries and geographies, was integrated into the final design," said Jim Betz, 3M lead engineer for the new Ultimate FX FF-400 respirator. "The respirator's design is influenced by both customer input and 3M innovation, with the intent to deliver better performance, value and ease of use."

The new 3M respirator features a lens coated with Scotchgard(TM) Protector to help resist certain dirt, paint and stains while making it easier for customers to clean. Scotchgard(TM) Semi-Permanent Lens Protectors help extend the life of the lens while the perimeter adhesive seal keeps debris out.

This new respirator design incorporates several features to assist in comfort, including a cradle that helps with donning the respirator and helps to reduce pressure and hair pulling. Also included is a six-strap head harness configuration for a secure fit while reducing further pressure points. The silicone nose cup design also improves comfort, reducing pressure on common sensitive facial points such as the nose bridge.

The new respirator includes additional features to assist in functionality. The wide peripheral view lens and the positioning of bayonet connections improve users' field of view. And the parts twist on and off for an easy-to-use and easy-to-clean respirator.
