Intended for multiuse sites where pedestrian and vehicle traffic redirection changes for different purposes, removable bollards provide transition from full bollard protection to open drive. Fixed bollards suit sites in areas where perimeter security or permanent pedestrian/traffic flow patterns are primary needs. Standing 36 in. above ground, both 4.5 in dia bollard types are offered in steel with standard colors or stainless steel versions.

Reliance Foundry Expands Cost-Effective Bollard Choices
Reliance Foundry has added new removable and fixed bollards to two of its contemporary bollard lines to provide the most cost-effective choices for sites where several kinds of bollards are most appropriate. "Adding lower-cost removable and fixed bollards to retractable bollards allows architects and designers more options for design that best combines aesthetics, functionality, durability and economy," said Brad Done, vice president of Reliance Foundry Co. Ltd.
Retractable bollards are the best choice for areas where vehicle access for maintenance, deliveries and emergencies is needed, providing the most rapid transition from full bollard protection to an open drive.
Removable bollards may serve the same purpose. While removal take a bit more time since the bollard must be moved out of the drive area, they offer attractive cost savings, with pricing generally running 40 to 45 percent less than retractable bollards.
Removable bollards are the design solution of choice for multiuse sites where redirecting both pedestrian and vehicle traffic changes is needed for different purposes, such as entertainment venues. Further savings on these sites can be achieved by placing extra bollard sleeves, allowing the same removable bollards to simply be moved to different configurations. Removable bollards are also a good choice where site expansion is likely in the near term, Done said.
Fixed bollards, the most economical choice, can be used extensively on most sites in areas where perimeter security or permanent traffic flow patterns, whether pedestrian or traffic, are the primary needs.
"Reliance Foundry chose two designs for this expansion," Done noted. "One is steel and offers our standard colors, including black semi gloss textured, dark green, statuary bronze, anodized grey metallic and anodized silver, plus custom colors, while the second is in stainless steel, unsurpassed in durability and corrosion-resistance. White or yellow reflective? stripes for better visibility may be added to any of these bollards."
Both designs feature diameters of 4.5 inches, or 11.4 centimeters, for excellent crash resistance, and stand 36 inches, or 91.4 centimeters above ground for easy visibility, Done said.
