October 29, 2009 - Featuring LAN connection, Remote Power Switch enables user to switch on, switch off, and reboot equipment as well as keep tabs on power consumption via web interface. SNMP compatibility lets switch send traps directly to SNMP manager. Users may choose to receive notifications when relay is latched, or if unit is reset for any reason. If power to large number of devices needs to be controlled at single site, several switches can be daisy chained and will behave as single unit.

DPS Telecom Introduces the New Remote Power Switch for Remote Reboot, Generator, and Other Power Control Applications

FRESNO, Calif., Oct. 23, 2009 -- DPS Telecom, a leading developer of network alarm monitoring solutions, announced today the release of their new Remote Power Switch, which allows you to switch on, switch off, and reboot equipment, right from your desk chair. With this device deployed at your sites, you can also keep tabs on power consumption.

The Remote Power Switch is an intelligent power distribution unit (PDU) with a LAN connection. You can access it remotely to toggle the power supplied to your remote equipment.

This new device is handy for hard-to-reach sites and after-hours operation. It drastically cuts down on expensive truck rolls and reduces downtime by allowing you to respond to remote issues immediately. Deploy the Remote Power Switch at critical remote locations to switch on, switch off, and reboot equipment from miles away.

"When you start replacing truck rolls with a few clicks in a web interface, you save on gas, maintenance, and manpower,"
said Eric Storm, President of DPS Telecom. "This is a device that will pay for itself very quickly."

Another feature that makes this power switch so practical is SNMP compatibility. It can send traps directly to your SNMP manager. You may choose to receive notifications when a relay is latched, or if the unit is reset for any reason.
You can create a combination of notifications to multiple email addresses and SNMP managers.

In addition to SNMP, the unit's controls are easy to access via the intuitive web interface. You can login quickly from any PC on your network using only a web browser.

If you need to control power to a large number of devices at a single site, the Remote Power Switch has another trick up its sleeve. "Daisy chain several units together for larger sites, and they'll behave as a single unit," said Mark Carberry, Director of Engineering at DPS Telecom. "This makes them really easy to control from the web interface."

With the Remote Power Switch, you also have the option of bundling alarm monitoring functionality in the same 1 RU chassis. This cuts costs and minimizes purchasing hassles, because you're getting two devices in one box.

If you choose to include monitoring with your Remote Power Switch, it will monitor internal and external temperature, as well as current draw. This provides you with critical information that you can use to make better dispatch decisions.

Control power to your critical devices, reboot systems, and monitor alarms, temperature, and current draw - all from one device. For more information about how the Remote Power Switch can help improve your site operations, visit:
