New Compressor From GE Oil & Gas Combines Gemini, Nuovo Pignone Product Features

ATLANTA, GEORGIA - July 19, 2002 - A new reciprocating compressor that combines key technology features from well-proven Gemini and Nuovo Pignone products has been introduced in Canada by GE Oil & Gas and Energy Industries Inc.

Gemini and Nuovo Pignone are both members GE Oil & Gas, a business unit of GE Power Systems. The new SHMB 604 compressor features a robust, fully balanced frame that Nuovo Pignone has been offering for years in high-speed applications such as gas injection and gas gathering. The crankshaft has been modified to match Gemini cylinders that are a mainstay of Energy Industries' product line in Canada.

"This is a real game-changer, merging the best of both technologies into a competitive product for our most challenging Canadian projects," said Ivan Heidecker, general manager of Energy Industries.

The new compressor is available in Canada only through Energy Industries, but will be offered in other parts of the world through additional distributors.

Energy Industries, based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is a subsidiary of Precision Drilling Corporation and is a full-service provider of natural gas compressor packages. The company specializes in the custom design, engineering and fabrication of Gemini and Nuovo Pignone reciprocating and Frick rotary screw packages driven by Caterpillar and Waukesha natural gas engines and various electric motor drivers up to 5000 bhp. Energy Industries specializes in acid gas packaging and maintains an aggressive stocking program of sweet and sour service packages ranging from 100-1800 bhp.

GE's worldwide Oil & Gas business is based in Florence, Italy, the home of Nuovo Pignone, a long-time global leader in gas compression and turbogeneration products. GE acquired ownership of Nuovo Pignone in 1994 and since then, has continued to expand its oil and gas business by acquiring or developing partnerships with other technology and experience leaders in the industry. Other companies that are part of the GE Oil & Gas team are Gemini, GE Packaged Power Odessa, Rotoflow, AC Compressor and Conmec, all based in the U.S.; Thermodyn in France; and PII in the U.K.
