November 13, 2012 - Part of Detective-ASP (Advanced Spectroscopic Portal) Series of nuclear identifiers for Homeland Security and other industrial radiation detection applications, IDM-200 Interchangeable Detector Module was developed from high-purity Germanium (HPGe) gamma-ray detection technology. Scalable radiation detection module, able to be integrated within new and existing security applications, offers such features as auto-calibration, hot-swap replacement, and continuous-duty operation.

Compact, High-Resolution Radiation Detector Offers Modular Solution for Integrated Nuclear Security Applications

The compact ORTEC IDM-200 is suitable for many applications, including nuclear security (portals monitors, rail monitors, integrated X-ray and nuclear monitoring systems), industrial (scrap steel, landfills), and environmental (in-situ surveys, emergency response, spectroscopic area monitors).  Developed from ORTEC high-purity Germanium (HPGe) gamma-ray detection technology, the IDM-200 detector is a highly integrated, modular, scalable, high-resolution and highly sensitive radiation detection module that can be easily integrated into new and existing security applications.

The IDM-200 offers significantly improved nuclear threat identification performance versus other types of radiation detectors. It provides users and system designers with a “smart” instrument that can be easily integrated into many of their applications.  The compact unit incorporates a very large area HPGe detector and offers such features as Auto-Calibration, “hot-swap” replacement, low maintenance requirements, and continuous duty high-temperature operation.
