New Radar Level Transmitter Is Economical, Gives Accurate Measurement Without Contact
A new non-contacting radar level transmitter, designed for accurate yet economical measurement, has been introduced by Solartron Mobrey of Houston, Texas.
The new MRL700 offers the performance normally associated with more expensive systems at prices in line with traditional level transmitters. Installed above the medium to be measured (liquid, slurry or dry), the new instrument utilizes an antenna to emit a continuous microwave signal ramping between 9.55 GHz and 10.55 GHz. It then receives a reflected echo, enabling its sophisticated microprocessor-controlled electronics to compute the medium's level to an accuracy of +/-1/8".
The MRL 700 features a tough NEMA 4X metal enclosure housing 4 wire 24Vdc electronics. A 1" thread mounting allows for easy, low-cost installation; flange mounting is also available. The 316 stainless steel wetside provides excellent resistance (a Hastelloy C wetside is optional), and a Teflon antenna allows use in almost all applications. Horn antennas and process seal versions are also available.
The new instrument meets FCC requirements (Part 15 and Part 90 type acceptance) and is explosion-proof in CLI, Div. 1, Groups B, C, D, E, F, G installations.
Commissioning and programming of the MRL 700 are quick and easy. The new instrument is ideal for use with vaporous or agitated liquids, for non-invasive measurement, and for low dielectric liquids/solids at long ranges.
